A little something to get you through until tomorrow afternoon. Today is 9.02.10. Yup, 90210 day! So break out the denim daisy dukes, the hair spray and reminisce about what really was one of the greatest TV shows ever (and I am talking about the original, not the remake, sorry). For a look back at some classic episode clips, check out this article from the Washington Post.

The pictures in this book are just too funny, I had to share them with you. Though bridesmaid dresses have certainly gotten more fashionable and closer to what you might purchase for yourself, you still own the same dress that 5 of your friends also own. This makes it a little harder to wear the dress again. But I don’t think anything can be as bad as some of the dresses in the ‘ode to bridesmaids book, “You Can Wear it Again” by Meg Mateo Ilasco.

If you aren’t familiar with Esty, it is a website where you can buy and sell handmade or vintage items, art and supplies. Everything from jewelry to clothing, furniture to food can be purchased from sellers all over the world. There is even a whole section devoted to weddings. In an effort to support local vendors, each week I will feature a different seller from the New York City area. If you have any favorite sellers, let me know!

Not sure what is prettier, the cake or the cake stand, but even the simplest cake would look great on these beautiful cake stands by Etsy seller Oryx and Crake Design. Check out Jee Yeon Bundy’s other designs which range from fruit bowls to birdhouses, all made of wood and cork.

Thought you would enjoy me posting about Bakerella’s endeavor into cake because 1. it is Friday, 2. who doesn’t want to look at pretty cakes? and 3. I am sending it as a virtual birthday cake to my wonderful husband! There will be plenty of dessert eating this weekend to celebrate, so I thought this could be a kick start. And yes, if you are thinking, wasn’t it just your birthday?, my husband and I are exactly three weeks apart, and two weeks before that is our anniversary. Summer is a busy time.
Happy, Happy Birthday to my best friend!

I am not sure what part about this wonderful birthday present that Ez of Creature Comforts made for her mother I love most. The homemade fudge and caramel sauces, the beautiful fabric covered jars or the fact that she shared the printable PDF of the great labels she made that really completed the gift.
Now all I need is some ice cream!
What is your favorite part?

Despite today’s dreary weather, it is supposed to be beautiful this weekend. If you are looking for something to do, why not fly a kite? My husband recently purchased this kite for me and it is so fun. No frame to put together, just take it out of the pouch, unroll some of the string and up it goes.

Want to really impress your friends this weekend at the beach? Build a sand castle like a pro with these tools from You Can Dig It Sand Tools. Your first try might not be as fabulous, but it will still make you feel young again! If you are having a beach party and really want to impress your guests, I believe you can hire them to make a sculpture at your event. Customize it to your parties theme, or have them build the most impressive castle you have seen made out of sand. Entertainment and decor, all in one!

Looking for a way to spice up your walls with something unique, but that won’t cause much damage? Try these inspirational words crafted out of wire by Paul Smotry of Gauge NYC. Your name, the name of your company or anything else you like, will be created out of wire which is attached to the wall by only the two ends of the word. All you have to do is create two small holes in the wall to insert the wire, push the ends in, and you are now the proud owner of a magnificent piece of 3-d art.

The spelling of my name is pretty unique and I very rarely see it in print unless it is in my inbox, so I get pretty excited when I see it elsewhere. These invitations, by letterpress artist and graphic designer, Alyson Graves Brown done for her own wedding probably would have caught my eye regardless, but the fact that we share a common spelling made them that much more wonderful for me. If you like what you see, check out her blog, Unruly Things, filled with lots of other wonderful treats for the eyes.
Special thank you to Oh So Beautiful Paper for this find.
