Customized gifts always seem to wind up being just something with an initial, name or date slapped onto an already great item. But what about personalizing something in a more subtle way, like with the coordinates of your house, favorite vacation spot or the location of your first date? Etsy artists Jennilyons81 will do just that on throw pillows, baskets or bags. In addition to her customizable styles, she has a wonderful collection of handmade housewares that would look just as wonderful in your farmhouse or your apartment that wants to feel like it is in the country.

I have always loved charm bracelets because they are so personal. I love those made by Etsy seller A Likely Story, especially because their themes all revolve around literature and for their vintage feel. These are even fun for the non-book lover, because they are just very playful. Any piece would be a great conversation starter.

if you found your love in NYC, this card is perfect
The aisles of Valentines Day cards are usually pretty boring. And once you find one that you think might be halfway good, the statement often leaves a lot to be desired. As long as you don’t leave your card shopping to the last minute, chickPrint has fulfilled this void. Cute, without being overly cheesy, her Valentines Card are perfect for any occasion, whether it is for your husband or your third date. Her vintage inspired cards have a very modern feel, which will make you want to send cards on a random Tuesday rather than just on a special occasion.

This weeks Etsy seller isn’t local to me, but is local to one of my favorite bloggers Makenzie Sala at Something Old Something New. So when she mentioned this shop last week, I had to pass it on to you. Besides, Gleenashop sells beautiful handmade ceramics, which I love, so I had to share. Especially these adorable ice cream bowls. They even have a dimple for your thumb!

Lately I have been getting a little more creative with my hair. Not my haircut so much, but with hair adornments. Everything from sparkly headbands to pretty bobby pins have really been catching my eye. So it is no surprise that this weeks Etsy seller, Catalysst, offers fabulous bobby pins that I have added to my list. Made from vintage buttons and earrings, each set isn’t a perfect match, but they all coordinate adding a little more fun. Her collections of handmade jewelery is also fabulous if you prefer to accessorize with earrings and necklaces.

Considering so much in our life has become digital, it is nice to have somethings printed on actual paper. While my schedule for the next year can be opened with the push of a button, I still enjoy having a printed calendar over my desk. Since I don’t really need to write much on it, these beautiful ones by Etsy seller Once Upon a Paper are a perfect option. The one above displays the entire year all on one page. The style pictured below offers one month per page, but in a small desktop size making it a perfect stocking stuffer or treat for yourself to brighten up your desk.

Still looking for some unique gift ideas?
NewlyWish: I LOVE this site and am so excited that Always a Blogsmaid did such a wonderful post about it (and can I be her friend?) While it is really a wedding registry site that offers those about to wed the ability to register at their favorite NYC small business, it is also a great resource for gifts. You can purchase gifts from these small vendors online that you normally wouldn’t have the ability to. How fun, especially for ex-New Yorkers, or visitors who fell in love with a store on a recent trip here. Check out their holiday shop for some great ideas.
Holiday Handmade Cavalcade: With over 50 Etsy vendors you are bound to find something for everyone on your list. Held this Sunday, December 5 at the OpenHOUSE Gallery in Nolita, it will definitely have a great selection of gifts or maybe you will find something for yourself!
Happy Shopping!

Last week I got to see Etsy seller Darin Gehrke’s ceramic work in person at the One of a Kind Show. The pictures definitely show how beautiful his pieces are, but it was a real treat to see it in person. You too, can see his work at the HolidayWare show this Sunday December 5 in Brooklyn.

The Rosie Pattern is my favorite.
I think it is officially time to start thinking about building an arsenal of cute little gifts that it is always good to have on hand this time of year. At $14.50 these push pins by Etsy seller Paper Pumpkin would spice up any office making it a little more tolerable to be at work. Or be a great incentive to get organized and pin notices and receipts all in one place. You can even get them custom made to match any decor.
